The Wild Bike journey started in 2021 when the founders traveled around east Africa for 1 year and got to hear first hand the challenges facing wilderness areas, their conservation, and their impact on surrounding communities. 

Having a long history in cycling, the founders decided to set up an NGO to deploy and support E-Bikes to augment and enhance existing wilderness conservation efforts, in an environmentally friendly way, for the long term preservation of wild places and their biodiversity. Our strategy is a simple one:

1. Identify a partner NGO who already has an existing conservation or community conservation project in which e-bikes could have an impact in their efficiency or productivity.

2. Procure e-bikes and turn them into Wild Bikes, by equiping them with suitable tyres, tools and spares to operate in harsh environments.

3. Train the users and then keep maintaining the bicycles so that they continue to operate and impact the project.

In this way we have been able to decrease operational costs by 17%, reduce carbon emissions, quadruple patrol distances, and have a accelerated impact on community micro-entrepreneurs and school kids in surrounding communities.

1. Deploy new bikes and sites and reach our goal of 50 bikes by the end of 2024.

2. Continue to maintain and support existing bike sites.
